Eaton Canyon/Cañon El Precipio

James and I decided to go for a little walk - the weather was so beautiful. We stayed local and went to Eaton Canyon. A century ago it would have been known as Cañon El Precipio. Whatever you might wish to call it, you can see from the photo taken today, our idea was not all that original.

On our walk we thought we'd look for the site of the Carlos Cruz homestead. Señor Cruz owned about 108 acres of land in the canyon from about 1877 to 1883. He sold the property $2,000 in gold coin. We think we might have found it, but need to do a little more research to make sure we are correct.

James and I agreed that the Familia Cruz probably never had to wait for others to cross from the lower grounds to their homestead where, according to Professor Kate Lain, they grew barley, grapes and had several fruit trees.
