Love at first sight can happen. When it happens to me my heart skips a beat, and then every time I see or interact with that thing, it makes me smile.

It was love at first sight when the real estate agent showed us the house that became our home.

It's a simple craftsman styled bungalow. It has the approach, the lines, and the workmanship of a craftsman, but it was constructed in a humble fashion. Lots of pine, not a bit of mahogany.

It's been a long time since our home was painted. This is partially because we were burned so thoroughly by the folks who last painted it and partially because we've been focused on other things. But, we are ready now.

We're trying to figure out what color combination we want to live with for the next decade. While we have a genuine appreciation for craftsman colors, so many of them feel a bit too somber for us. James and I like color. Whatever our choice we know it will be a color that makes our heart skip a beat and bring a smile to our face every time we come home.

  1. When we painted our house a couple of years ago, my husband and I couldn't decide on paint color at all: we only knew we wanted to do a three color combo... It wasn't until the day before the painters showed up that we finally panicked and made a choice. Fortunately, we love the colors. We must have followed a good impulse...

Your colors look great-- now all you have to do is narrow it down! :)

  2. We're thinking about painting, too. Time to take a drive around town and take photos of houses that look good in their paint jobs.

  3. We did a bit of that yesterday. Trying to see how folks treated different geometric aspects of their houses. At the very least we come home esthetically tickled.
