Feliz Cumpleaños Mr. Jimmy

I've been wandering about spending time with family and friends over the holidays. I had been planning on continuing to write the blog, but truth be told I got distracted. And maybe I needed a vacation from work and volunteer activities. I think I was hungry for some "down" time.

In any case, James and I just got back from Quartzsite, AZ. I'll share more about my concerns about the trip in another post, but will share here that I had a great time.

Today is a day of celebrations. It is the beginning of a New Year - the Year of the Dragon. It is also the end of the Year of the Rabbit. Beginnings and ends, duality, Child is father of the man. As we get to be older we often think more and more of the meanings of things. We don't always come to a conclusion, but a lot of thinking goes on. In some ways it's a little like taking a hike. In the midst of the hike we know that we are moving, but it's only when we stop for a moment and take a look around that we see where we've been and where we're going.

Yesterday was the 365th day of James life as a 56 year old. Today begins his first day as a 57 year old. It's a good day to stop and think about all we've shared together, last year and the many years prior and about those things we most want to share in this next year of his life.

  3. OH, all right. You know me, I reach a new year and automatically add another year to the number. I have mentioned that I'm pretty good about exact dates, but a bit dithery on years.
