Who is this smiling fellow?

"The Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Mark Rocha as superintendent/president of Pasadena City College. He will begin his post on July 1, 2010...
Dr. Rocha has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, including nine years of experience in the California community college system, most recently as president of West Los Angeles College in the Los Angeles Community College District. He brings extensive experience working in a large, multi-college district.".*

Dr. Rocha comes to a college that has benefitted from the work of Dr. Lisa Sugimoto, who has served as Interim President, over the last year.

The student body and staff at the college are living through challenging times. But as we see happening in many places the challenges seem to be balanced by opportunities. We'll see what comes of the choices made by the PCC Board of Trustees and Dr. Rocha.

Welcome Dr. Rocha, to Pasadena City College, and the many different communities this district serves.

  1. What seemed most exciting to some administrators and staff - as expressed by Johari DeWitt-Rogers and Ernestine Moore - was his experience at the City/Community Colleges level. Part of his academic background in theater. I am intrigued and want to read his treatise on August Wilson'w Seven Guitars.
