August 16, 2010

30 years. Hardly seems possible. But it's true.

We were married August 16, 1980, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Riverside. The heat of the day was brutal. I'm sure the temperature was close to 100.

It was the second time I was getting married but I wasn't nervous about walking down the aisle.

James once shared that we'd have 50 or 60 years to work on any problems that might arise.

I was encouraged to hear that. I knew that we would have really good time together; that's the easy part. The harder part is working through the rough patches. A half century of life together is about as committed as one can get.

Over the years like any other couple we've had some really great times and some times that were more challenging. But it's okay, since we still have time to work on the more challenging issues. And any rough times will be more than balanced by 20-30 years filled with laughter and love.
