Not your standard chips and salsa

Yesterday James and I spent the day together. Mostly doing little things around the house. Then we went off on a small adventure. We took the bus up to the Altadena Hardware Grand Re-Opening. Bought goodies for the house and walked home.

Met a fellow who was coming up Lake who shared "I hate this hill". For anyone who has ever walked up Lake beyond New York you know what he meant. It's hard work especially if you are carrying some extra weight.

Then we splurged and picked up some chips, pico de gallo, and salsa at the Ralph's. I'd heard that Homeboy was producing the goodies but wanted to taste them before I recommended folks try them.

You can't see how empty the bag is: if you could you'd see we are giving multiple thumbs up.

"Nothing stops a bullet like a job" and "Jobs not jails"are not your standard marketing slogans. But like the fellow we met walking up the hill, the young men and women who are clients at Homeboy are fighting an uphill battle. As is Homeboy itself.

So we'll visit Ralph's again to pick up the salsa and chips. Tastes good and does good work - that works for me.
