Commanding plans

James sees birds and bugs wherever he goes. I see them, too, but he SEES them. They seem to leap out at him. Maps and historical data leap out at me. Case in point - this map is at the Eaton Canyon Visitor's Center. It is the work of Kate Lain based on the United States General Land Office.

The text that accompanies this map point out that one should consider "the information that's not included". She continues talk about homesteaders and squatters whose names are not included and "who were the original owners".

The bulk of the properties on this map were set up based on individual concerns.

A very different case is the current out reach taking place that will be used as a base for the City of Pasadena's General Plan. Meetings have been going on for almost two years: the most recent took place tonight @ PCC. It is an immense understatement to share that the plan is complex. I'm glad that there are materials on line to learn more and that there will be a last meeting @ Villa Parke this coming Thursday, June 30 from 6:30-8:00*.
