Oh, the places you'll go...

Our goddaughter Maya, here with her grandmother Margarita, will be leaving for New York early in the morning. She's be starting her freshman year of college.

Tomorrow begins a new chapter in our family's life.

But this evening we were together talking about college experiences, past and future, laughing at our foibles, and enjoying each other's company. All of us adults drinking in every bit of the moment: relishing the laughs, the smiles, and the stories that we've shared before.
At one level we do this for Maya, at another level we do it for ourselves. We talk about our lives hoping that our stories will become as special for her as they are for us. We hope that Maya will keep coming back for more - adding her stories to the mix - making our time together that much more special.

  1. Oh, there's so many things I love about this -- your words and hopes; the harmony in those legs and feet.

    Best wishes to Maya.

  2. My Comadre "encouraged" her to sit with her grandma and Maya shared there wasn't any room. Yes, at first I was concerned about clarity, light, and and all those other photographic qualities - then I saw the looks on their faces.
