Greetings from life in the slow lane

I hadn't planned to write while I was on my mini sabbatical.  Going off to do research isn't technically a vacation, but it is a way of refreshing my energies.  But here I am and I have net access today.

So yesterday I'm on the road to Santa Clara and I see the signs for Mission San Miguel.  It's been quite a while since I was there, so off I go, but am quickly distracted by Rios Adobe.  I'm permitted this distraction.

No one is there, it's not even a day that is open for visitors, so it is wonderfully quiet.
As I'm heading back to the car a pattern catches my eye.
I stop and am intrigued by this pattern that is about ten feet long that follows the path of a long hedge.

Just for fun this morning I played with the colors.
Truly life in the slow lane.
