Interloper or family member?

Fred's role in our house seems to be unclear.  James and I feed him and fix his little scrapes.

Leia is fine with him at all times, save food time.  Then he is tolerated as long as he doesn't touch her food.

Larry is comfortable with Fred spending time with us and seems to miss him when he's not here.

He's here for a day and gone for another.

When he's here, the love seat is made for preening.  On occasion our laps our good for a bit of loving.

It's a tenuous day by day relationship.

  1. Fred leads a very hard life, I can tell! I say he's part of the family.

  2. Yesterday he came in from, who knows where, and was lying panting on the floor. Really was almost cartoon-like. I offered him some milk and kibble but he was too hot. So I picked him and smoothly walked over to the kitchen faucet. Holding him in my arms, I baptized the nape of his neck. He liked the closeness, then realized what I was doing and that it was an unnatural act for cats and pretty soon squirmed down. He was no longer panting. Too fonny.

  4. Acts like a youngster, too. You're right the feet are a give away as is his slender build.
I forget how big our Larry is until Fred drops by.

  5. So who makes the final adoption decision? You and James, or Larry and Leia?

  6. I suspect James and I would be the responsible parties. Luckily there is no problem with our very blended family.

  7. So true, Roberta. We're having family issues with our two felines. It's their way.

  8. Do have to wonder why cats are so strong willed. They are bold and some of us just fold.
