We left New Mexico and arrived in Colorado in the late afternoon.
We stayed in Durango. It began as a railroad town and continues to be a destination for train aficionados in part because steam engines still run on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. After checking in to the General Palmer Hotel we went to see the train return from Silverton.
