Love you back

The City of Pasadena will be 128 years old this year.  Our library is 130 years old.  We are one of the few cities in the state of California with this distinction.

"The people of Pasadena (did so because the believed that it) may be the means of uniting the whole community  in all general efforts of the public good and be an educator of the people, next in value to to the common school".  They found ways to raise money to get the library started and the result of their success is a legacy that contributes to a richer quality of life throughout the city.
This year will be filled with celebrations of their gifts and the gifts of our city.  Tomorrow there'll be a celebration of those who have worked with the written word and are connected with our city.  The link below will take you to the complete list of authors.

LOVE OUR AUTHORS CELEBRATION

Pasadena Public Library will host a special author fair on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Central Library’s Donald R. Wright Auditorium, 285 E. Walnut Street.

The event features local Pasadena authors and covers a myriad of topics; history, cookbooks, fiction, mystery, poetry, children’s and more. The list of authors is very long  - here's a link where you can see just how long the list is and see how many authors you recognize.

Since this is site that often focuses on the many experiences of Latinas and Latinos in the city, let me highlight some of our local Latina and Latino authors.   Thelma Reyna, Victor Cass, Randy Ertll,  Vibiana Aparicio-Chamberlin, Sandra M. Gutierrez, Roberta H. Martínez, and Luís Torres all have worked or live in the Crown City.

Thanks Pasadena libraries for loving us.  We love you back.

Books will be on display and available for sale. Authors will be on hand to chat with visitors and sign copies of their books. Pasadena Symphony’s Random Acts of Music will perform.

For more information, contact Christine Reeder, Adult Services Manager (626) 744-7076 or creeder@cityofpasadena.net.
