"Yoo hoo! Is anybody?"

If you remember really EARLY TV you may remember Mrs. Goldberg.  In her signature opening she spoke from her window and wondering if anyone was home in one of the nearby apartments.  Is anybody became shorthand for "Is anybody there?"

I feel a bit Mrs. Goldberg; it's been a long time since I had a chance to write on the blog.  The last few months have been tumultuous in ways that are not life threatening, but have really thrown me off balance.  Nothing horrid, just some time adjusting to things.

Last year was about disengagement, it seems winter was about discernment, and the beginning of this year has been about trying to figure out next directions.  Late December and all of January has been a very mixed, and often trying, spell.  Happy to share that all of this has to do with my more "professional" parts of my life and not with my personal life.

On the up side for the first time in 15 years, because I'm no longer "in charge" of the Latino Heritage Parade & jamaica, I no longer am compelled to note any convertible I see and wonder if we'll have enough cars for the Parade.  This is a good thing.  I also am not compelled to go meetings hoping I'll connect with someone or someone representing an institution that will support the P & j.  I had a friend compare this to "Empty Nest Syndrome".  I think that's a good comparison.

In late December and early January James has spent time his Michigan familia.  His mom is nearly 91; so any time they can get together is a good thing.  Love Larry and Pánfilo, but while James was gone I felt like I was back to being a single mom.  Up side - I didn't have to be creative when it came to meals.

January found me dealing with the results of breathing in some mold or mildew that laid me out like a sack of potatoes...and getting ready for three talking engagements.  Still recuperating a bit, but mostly all better.

So I shall use the words done and satisfied to describe January.  And happily viewed in the rearview mirror.

Now I'm ready to get back to some new sort of normal that includes some chat via the "net" window.

  1. I'm glad you and James are well. And of course, the little ones.

Re-evaluating. I'm allowing myself the time. Lots of exercise, and writing.

  2. Funny how many of us seem to be in a similar mode. Haven't sat down to do the writing - yet.
