3,500 members, 50 and up

Seniors at the Pasadena Senior Center come from all around the world and from very local places. This group is the Latino Club celebrated Don Margarito Montaño's 104th birthday. Beside him is his much younger wife Doña Baudelia who was a spry 96. They were married in the Mexican state of Jalisco and were together for over 70 years. They played Loteria with the club.

If you get to the Senior Center tomorrow between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 you can see the many activities that are there for our elders like Don Margarito and Dona Baudelia and for mocosas (whippersnappers) like me who are past 50, but not necessarily by a lot.

You can also see photos from Latino Heritage that show Latinos in Pasadena from different eras in the 20th century. There images include a New Year's Celebration @ Lalo Guerrero's in East L.A., Bobby Soxers by the Castle Green, the Contreras family by their ModelT, and Flappers from Chihuahuita.
Oh, and because it is the celebration of the Center's 50th anniversary there will be cake, too!
