Power of One

This Week At All Saints Episcopal Church

Adult Education at 10:15 a.m.

"The Power of One
with Brian Biery and Marty Coleman (Sweetland Hall)
The book
Power of One features Pasadena and Altadena residents who have made enormous contributions to their communities. Feel empowered by an inspiring presentation which will show how anyone can make a difference and add more meaning to their lives. Join Brian Biery, photographer for Power of One and other speakers including: Marty Coleman, of the Sustainable World Ministry. They will discuss what inspired them and offer suggestions for others who would like to help make the world a better place.

How would you define community?
How do you create a supportive community?
What do you cherish about life in the place where you live?
Can one person make a difference?"

These are the questions that were core to this photo essay book - text/Traude Gomez Rhine, photos/Brian Biery. And some of the same questions that will be discussed this coming Sunday @ All Saints. The next couple of days I'll be thinking about how I might answer these questions since I'll be joining Brian, Marty, and Gerda Govine at the Sunday presentation.

I'm wondering how each of you might answer the questions?

  1. Roberta - To me - you and Gerda (and Luis) are the perfect examples of "power of one" in the manner in which you live and work and relate to your community. Community defined as those of us who are fortunate enough to experience your "power" of belief - your knowledge and wisdom.

  2. Thanks Ruth. There are a lot of us who are lucky to be noticed, but there are so many folks who are as active, or are more committed to a cause, who are not noticed and yet they continue their work. We're lucky for their unsung dedication.
